The Perfect Skirt for Every Body Type

When it comes to skirts I definitely have two favorites: 1) the pencil skirt and 2) the pleated midi skirt. Even though the pencil skirt is fitted and the midi skirt is loose and flowing, I always feel equally sexy when I wear both styles.

I’ve had many ladies share with me that they just aren’t “skirt people.” They then proceed to list off the various body parts that they dislike and feel that skirts just accentuate these areas.

Well ladies, a properly fitted skirt in the correct style would actually flatter your figure more than a pair of pants! And there is one particular skirt style that looks great on EVERY body type ⇒ The Pleated Midi Skirt!

Here’s how:

  1. Accentuates the Waist – This skirt sits at your waist and gradually flairs out in an subtle A-line, creating curves and accentuating your waist, which is the smallest part of your torso.
  2. Loosely Drapes over the Hips – The pleated fabric loosely drapes over the stomach and hips, which can mask trouble areas or add curves for those ladies who need it.
  3. Hits Just Below the Knees – The most universally flattering skirt length is just below the knee, which is a relatively thin part of the leg.

A few other things to keep in mind:

  • Make sure that you wear a fitted, tucked-in top to balance out the fullness of the skirt.
  • Get the skirt hemmed if it’s longer than just below the knees.
  • This skirt style can be dressed up or down. Pair it with a tee-shirt and flat sandals or a silk blouse and stiletto heels.
  • If you want to elongate your legs wear this skirt with high heels or a wedge.

To provide you with some variety, I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite Pleated Midi Skirts:

One | Two | Three | Four | Five

Next time you decide to treat yourself with something new, give this skirt a try. You may be surprised by how sexy and confident it makes you feel.

Happy shopping!
